Volunteers Needed

RCIA Parish Sponsors:
The RCIA team is so happy to share with you that we have several people asking to become Catholic and join us as members of Our Parishes. Isn’t that great news? We must be doing something right, if others want to join us! So, now that we have inquirers, we need parishioners to sponsor these new people. You’re probably sitting there wondering what it would mean to be a sponsor for one of these new inquirers? Well, serving as a sponsor is about bringing a new member into the church, helping them to become disciples of Jesus Christ! What an awesome mission that is! Parish sponsors accompany those who are inquiring and walk with them on their faith journey. Sponsors do not do the teaching, but they serve as companions to those who are inquiring. It is truly a great privilege and a very rewarding experience to serve in this way. It is an opportunity to learn more about Catholicism, to renew your own faith and recommit to being a true follower of Jesus Christ. So, we need people who are faith filled and willing to share their faith with others. We need people who are generous with their time and will share their lives with others. We need people who will lend an ear and listen to the stories of these inquirers. We need people who will introduce the new members to other parishioners and help them get to know us. Mostly, we need people who love our church and who are passionate about their faith and want to bring others to Christ. Does that describe you? Would you consider serving in this way? Might God be calling you to become a parish sponsor? How will you answer that call? Please call Lauren DeFelice at the parish office. St. Vitus Food Program
In conjunction with the Pittsburgh Food Bank and Produce to People, St. Vitus Parish sponsors a communitywide food distribution every month in Fabbri Hall, St. Vitus School. We are blessed to be able to provide much needed food, including fresh produce, canned goods, meats and bakery items to over 600 families in need throughout our local region. Many of our recipients are elderly or handicapped and require assistance. We ask volunteers to help with setup, distribution and moving items to vehicles using wheeled carts that we provide. Please consider offering your time, once a month, to this most worthy cause.
Contact the parish office (724-652-3422).
Everyone is welcome and needed.

Stitching Angels Ministry
The Stitching Angels Ministry is celebrating its second anniversary at St. Camillus Parish this June. The 17 members have hand-made and donated over 700 items to various local charities, nursing homes and the two local cancer treatment facilities, as well as completing over two dozen afghans from crocheted and knitted squares made by Marie Sparacino’s Warm Up America ministry, which met at St. Vincent de Paul Parish for many years. New members, donations of yarn and fabric suitable for pillowcases or walker totes are always welcome. If you sew, knit or crochet and would like to share your time and talent with the Stitching Angels, or if you have yarn or fabric to donate, please call Sara Kalata at 724-658-0087.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Attention Retirees and Adult Parishioners: Would you be willing to volunteer some of your free time? There is no pay—but the rewards are great! More than you can imagine! You will make occasional visits to the poor and less fortunate in our area. Visits will be done during daylight hours, and you will have a co-member to go with you. Expect a warm heart feeling from helping others. Jesus reminds us: “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me.” Training and other materials will be supplied.

Call Anthony Scarnati of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at 724-658-4307 or come to a meeting on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM in the St. Vitus Rectory.
